P14 - Human Right to Adequate Food and Rural Development in CPLP
Papers in Portuguese, English, Castellano and French; session in Portuguese.
The CPLP has nearly 28 million malnourished. The most problematic countries are Angola, Mozambique, Guinea-Bissau, East Timor and Cape Verde. Their reduced capacity to translate existent public policies or legislation in to concrete actions exacerbates existing inequalities in terms of rights distribution. Portugal is currently back to this debate while Brazil is critically evaluating its institutional innovations. Based on possible analysis undertaken in the various Member State, this panel intends to discuss common approaches to food security and rural development governance in the CPLP. The discussion will include possible institutional innovations, public policies and instruments that are consistent with the realization of the human right to adequate food.
