The Portuguese Association of Agricultural Economics (APDEA) is a scientific society aiming to contribute to the understanding of economic and social problems of Portuguese agriculture, promote the progress of knowledge in the field of Agricultural Economics, strength cooperation between their scientific technique members, as well as promote the development of contacts between national and international experts in their field of expertise.
The APDEA was founded in 1987 and brings together academics, experts, professionals and others interested in the economic, social and environmental issues associated with agriculture, the agri-food sector and rural areas in Portugal.
The Portuguese Society of Rural Studies (SPER) is a scientific†association, nonprofit, that develops its activities in the promotion of Rural Studies. SPER has a transdisciplinary nature, gathering around the same object of study skills from diverse scientific areas.
The Society aims to promote:
a) The development of Rural Studies in Portugal;
b) The analysis and debate on rural society in Portugal;
c) The intellectual coexistence between teachers and researchers in the area of Rural Studies.
SOBER is a Scientific, Cultural and Education society, and aims to develop the rural social sciences (Business Administration, Economics, Extension and Rural Sociology Communication), and its corollaries, also providing subsidies for the implementation of public policies oriented sectors agriculture, agribusiness and rural areas.
It was founded on February 19, 1959 during the First Biennial Meeting of Economists Rural, and then called the Brazilian Society of Rural Economists (SOBER). However only been fully incorporated on 23 February 1960, during the Brazil Second Meeting of Economists Rural, held at the premises of the Getulio Vargas Foundation and the Federation of Industries, in Rio de Janeiro.
The Portuguese Association for Regional Development (APDR) was founded in 1984, aiming to contribute to innovation, consolidation and dissemination of knowledge in the context of regional development, promote the exchange of information and experiences among its members and professionals from various institutions, promote the encounter between the different disciplines involved and foster collaboration between the University and Public Administration, aiming at a closer link between scientific knowledge and practice of regional development.

Gala dinner will take place on October 17th and will be an opportunity for networking between delegates and tasting the flavors and nectars of the region.
The technical and touristic trip will be held on 19th, Saturday, and will take the participants of ESADR 2013 to typical places of high historical and landscape interest of Alentejo.
